Post-Fukushima Stories

私は千葉県の出身ですが、父親が福島県の出身で、祖父母が福島のいわき市に住んでいたので、夏休みや冬休みにはいつも福島に遊びに行っていました。遊びに行くと、いつも海鮮物をたくさんご馳走になりました。お刺身、あわび、蟹やアンコウ鍋。祖父は昔は漁師でした。祖母はかまぼこ工場で働いていました。下の写真は皆で釣りに行った時の写真です。父がアイナメを釣ったので、私がインスタントカメラで写真を撮りました。正確な年は覚えていませんが、私は確か高校生だったと思います。

I am from Chiba, but my father is from Fukushima and my grandparents lived in Iwaki, Fukushima.  I always visited Fukushima during winter and summer vacation. They always gave us a feast from the sea when we visited. Sashimi, abalones, crabs and angler-fish hot pot. My grandfather used to be a fisherman. My grandmother worked at kamaboko factory.  Below is a photo I took when I went fishing with my family.  My father caught a rock-trout so I took a photo with my disposable camera. I don’t remember what year it was, but I think I was in high school.

最近私はアルバムのページをめくっていて、この写真を見たときとても悲しい気持ちになりました。私は福島がとても美しい場所であることを知っているし、そこは家族とたくさんの時間を過ごした場所でもあり、私のこころを育ててくれた場所でもあります。だから私はそれを伝える為にこの絵を描きました。
